Newgrange

So I met up with my family in Dublin on Saturday night, went to the hotel got a beer and went to bed. The next day we took a short road trip to Newgrange to the Megalithic Passage Tomb. Supposedly, the tomb predates Stonehenge and the Pyramids (so it is really old - around 3200 BC). Newgrange was built so that on dawn of the winter solstice, a narrow beam of sunlight would illuminate the interior. It is pretty amazing to think that such a structure could have been designed so long ago. It was a really early morning-trip and the museum was actually worthwhile. The morning was great, weather-wise, so we ate our picnic outside on the car instead of in it and then headed back to Dublin.
