Tempietto

One of my favorite buildings in all of Rome is the Tempietto of San Pietro in Montorio. It is a small building (or structure - not really design for activities inside of it,) that was built in the Renaissance by Bramante. It is built in a small courtyard where it was originally believed St. Peter was crucified before it was decided he that he died where St Peter's Basilica is now. The church is very well hidden in the courtyard but has great views off of the hill it is located on. This building was commissioned by the King and Queen of Spain and there is now the Spanish Academy in Rome right next to it. It is nice to see the Spanish flag flying again. The picture of the hole in the floor looks down into the crypt (the fuzzy picture) and continues down into the ground.
