Basilica of St. John Lateran
The Basilica of St. John Lateran is one of my favorite churches so far. It is probably due to the amazing light that was coming in through the windows when I first entered. This is the official cathedral of Rome. It is also the seat of the bishop of Rome - the Pope. The side entrance is the one I came through first (the last photo). The main entrance looks over a big piazza/street so it is visible from pretty far away in that direction.
